One of the key elements which has contributed to the success of K2 over the past 20 years has been fostering a sense of ownership & contribution amongst the team.

That same sense of contribution has been the catalyst to creating the K2 Foundation; supporting children & their educational needs over the four continents where we have operations.

The Foundation straddles both People & Culture and Sustainability, two of the six pillars of Kinetic, K2’s five-year strategic business plan (2022-2026). Charitable work is integral to K2’s culture; taking care of the communities within which K2 is very much a part of is an intrinsic part of our role within those communities. The purpose

Supporting children's futures in the regions we operate

The Foundation was set up in order to enable us, as a business, to support the local communities within the regions that we operate.

The charitable initiatives that the Foundation funds focus on helping the children within those communities, children whose futures are bleak or uncertain. Often, the support provided takes the form of education, as this gives children the chance to develop skillsets which can increase the number of opportunities available to them as they grow up.

UK

The Rainbow Trust has been the UK Office’s chosen charity since 2015, for whom UK employees have ‘clocked’ thousands of miles each year in sponsored walks, and for whom they’ve climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (2017). They have also hosted multiple community and client-partnered events.

K2 also support the Matt Hampson Foundation which works to support people to harness their potential, build self-belief, and mobilise personal resources when facing life-changing injuries.

The UK office have also recently partnered with Naomi House & Jacksplace, two hospices supporting life-threatened and life-limited children. Through their extensive volunteering programme, UK employees have utilised their CSR days to support the charity.

Americas

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is the main supported charity, together with other local charities such as Rebuilding Together, the Community Tool Bank in Houston, and Food Bank in Pittsburgh. The very localised nature of these charities greatly enhances K2 USA’s connection with the communities of which they are a part.

The Brazil Office supports Hospital Oncológico de São Paulo.

Brazil

The Brazil office have partnered with Associação Semeando Amor, a charity in São Paulo who run a primary school to support local children growing up in the favelas. Through the Foundation, K2 are rebuilding the school so that it can continue to provide a safe and educational space for children.

Sweden

The Malmö Office is currently affiliated with Barncancerfonden, a charity which helps families affected by paediatric cancer and supports research into the disease.

South Africa & UAE

As our newest charity partner, K2 South Africa are now supporting SOS Africa, a non-profit which supports the education and care of disadvantaged children in Africa. From January 2024, K2 will be supporting five children entering primary school age, providing extra tuition and holistic learning opportunities.

Australia

The Australia Office has taken part in multiple events in aid of The Smith Family, an educational children’s charity supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programmes.

In Ecuador

Supporting sport in a village in Ecuador

The Foundation partnered with Hacienda La Danesa, a traditional dairy and cacao farm in Ecuador, to construct an all-weather soccer field in the village of San Antonio. The field replaced a concrete pitch which had fallen into a state of disrepair, and with its purpose-built stands and its ability to double as a netball court, a basketball court and a track field, the new field has become a busy, buzzing community hub.

In Brazil

Supporting education in a favela in Brazil

Associação Semeando Amor, a charity in São Paulo, Brazil, supports local children who are growing up in the favelas. The charity runs a school which caters for children aged between two months and twelve years old. As a result of time passing and the school community growing, the school building is no longer fit for purpose. Through its Foundation, K2 is rebuilding the school so that it can continue to provide a safe, educational space for the current and future generations of local children.
