On Tuesday 10th December team members from the K2 Brazil office were accompanied by HHG partner, One Moving, on a visit to the São Paulo school.
During their visit, the K2 and One Moving teams worked together to decorate different areas of the school, to help bring colour and life to the learning and recreation spaces.
From bright murals of children playing on the rooftop, to pictures of animals in the nursery and images of healthy foods in the canteen, the designs have been chosen to bring joy and inspire.
On one classroom wall, a decal was added with the words:
“Nesta escola somos uma familia, aprendemos, brincamos, rimos muito, ajudamos uns aos outros” which translates into English as “In this school we are a family, we learn, we play, we laugh, and we help each other”.
In addition to painting and decorating, the volunteers built and arranged furniture and organised toys and books, many of which had been donated by Wesley Thome, Executive Director of One Moving. Part of the K2 Brazil team also assembled some K2 branded, wooden balance bikes that had been gifted to the school by K2’s Global Marketing Director, James Marshall.
Financial & Admin Coordinator, and Charity Champion for Brazil, Ana Paduan comments:
“We had a really great day at the school, working as a team, and in partnership with One Moving. Having been involved in the project since the very beginning, it is amazing to see the progress that has been made and it’s a fantastic feeling to be so close to completion now that we are in a position to be adding the final touches.”
Ana continues:
“We are so grateful for the support of Wesley and the One Moving team, as well as all of the other K2 partners who have contributed to the school project. We cannot wait for the children to be able to start using the school next year, and to see the positive impact that all the new facilities will have on their daily lives.”
This project has been the focus of the K2 Foundation since its inception in 2023. The K2 Foundation was set up in order to enable us, as a business, to support the local communities within the regions that we operate. The projects and initiatives that the Foundation funds focus on helping the children within those communities, children whose futures are bleak or uncertain. Often, the support provided takes the form of education, as this gives children the chance to develop skillsets which can increase the number of opportunities available to them as they grow up.
