On 26th February, members of the K2 Sweden team headed to Ronald McDonald House, Lund, to take part in a culinary themed charity day.

Ronald McDonald House provide a ‘home away from home’ for families with a child in hospital, offering a warm and comfortable place to rest, eat and relax, just moments away from their child’s hospital ward.

Upon arrival at the House in Lund, the volunteer group got to work; they spent the morning baking chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes, in a bid to fill the kitchen with the familiar comfort of the smells and tastes of home-baked treats.

Some of the families staying at Ronald McDonald House helped to decorate the cupcakes with their children, sharing heartfelt conversation with the K2 team as they iced.

Senior Client Services Consultant and Charity Champion for K2 Sweden, Andrea Carneiro, comments:

“The families expressed sincere appreciation for our visit, and we left feeling grateful for the opportunity to spend time with them. One mother we met reflected that our visit provided a welcome break from the daily routine of trips to and from the hospital.”

Andrea continues:

“Decorating the cakes with the children and their families created a moment of connection that felt genuinely special. Moments like these reinforce the importance of compassion, community, and showing up for those who need it most. This experience left a deep impression on all of us.”

K2 and the K2 Foundation work with a number of charity partners around the world, each dedicated in some way to improving the lives of children, young people, and their families. K2 employees are encouraged to support these partners in delivering their services and are empowered to do so through being given two days of paid charitable leave each year to participate in volunteering activities.
