A Summary of Day 14 of K2’s volunteering project in Nepal from worker Emma Kerslake

It was an early start for our volunteers this morning, as we’d hoped to see the sunrise over the Annapurna mountain range. However, the clouds had different plans and we only got a slight glimpse of the sun basking the top of the mountains in an orange glow. The view was still spectacular within the quiet morning surroundings of Ghandruk village.

Around 10am we made our journey down the hill to the coach and had a white-knuckle 3 hour drive back to the city of Pokhara. Once back in the lakeside city, it was a day of relaxing, sleeping and showering, before making the journey to Kathmandu on Monday morning to reunite with the trekkers and congratulate them in person on their amazing achievement!

A Summary of Day 14 of K2’s Everest Base Camp Trek from walker Natasha Wannenburg

This morning we were allowed to sleep in, as our breakfast was an hour later than normal, which was so very much appreciated!

We headed to Phakding from Namche Bazaar and enjoyed a full day of trekking.

With some very steap downhills, we started to feel the aches in our knees, but we continued onward, with ‘home’ in our minds!

On the trek, we were once again united with the most amazing views of Nepal, and the beauty of Nepal’s nature.

Arriving at the lodge where we have stayed before, we enjoyed some hot tea, and also a hot shower!

We then gathered for dinner where we had our brief for the next few days and also enjoyed some funny stories and laughter.
