On Wednesday 4th June, members of the K2 Sweden team spent the day volunteering at Ronald McDonald House (Lund), helping to get the garden ready for their summer party.

Families from all over Sweden, Norway and Iceland may find themselves spending time at Ronald McDonald House if a child needs specialist care at the University Hospital in Lund. The House is located on the hospital grounds, a short walk from the Children’s and Youth Hospital, and serves as a ‘home away from home’ for families for the duration of a child’s hospital stay. K2 have been volunteering at Ronald McDonald House since 2023, offering ad-hoc support for seasonal activities and events.

Last week K2 Sweden’s Charity Champions, Maya Wehbe and Andrea Carneiro, were accompanied by Country Manager, Skuli Bjornsson, and Finance and Compliance Manager, Quinn Ertel, for a full day of on-site garden preparation, to ensure the space was up to scratch for welcoming guests to the summer party the following day.

Throughout the day, the group of K2 volunteers took on a number of different tasks, including, sweeping, cleaning garden furniture, weeding, raking the lawn, and cleaning the playground and table tennis area.

Reflecting on the experience, Commercial Manager for Europe, Maya, comments:

“It was a really enjoyable day; we worked well as a team to finish all the tasks that were assigned to us, pulling together to make sure everything was ready for the party.”

Senior Client Services Consultant, Andrea, adds:

“Ronald McDonald House is an amazing charity, so to be able to help in some small way, and make a difference for the families that use their services, is such a great feeling. We hope that everyone enjoyed the summer party, and we look forward to volunteering with Ronald McDonald House again soon.”
