This November, members of the K2 UK team and the extended K2 Family will be lacing up their running shoes and heading to Italy to take part in the Florence Marathon for the K2 Foundation.
The K2 team will be led by Group Billing Manager, Stuart McCully, and Senior Business Analyst, Luke Charter. Stuart and Luke have participated in multiple fundraisers for the Foundation before now, including last year’s 980-mile ‘Ride Across Britain’ cycling event.
Contemplating this latest challenge, Stuart says:
“Taking on a marathon is no small feat but knowing that our efforts will help the K2 Foundation continue to support worthwhile projects around the globe is all the motivation we need to get us across the finish line. Training is underway and we’ve kicked off our fundraising campaign – we just need to avoid getting any injuries between now and the 30th November!”

One of the most scenic Europe events of its kind, the course will take participants on a tour of Florence’s historic streets and legendary landmarks. From Piazza del Duomo to the breathtaking views along the Arno river, every step will be steeped in the timeless beauty of the city. But whilst the beautiful environs may offer some comfort, the 42.195km (26.2 mile) distance will still present an enormous physical and mental challenge for every participant.

K2’s Executive Business Director and K2 Foundation Lead, Richard Rutledge, whose son Hugh will be joining the K2 team, comments:
“It is inspiring to see K2 team members coming together with family and friends for this latest challenge in support of the K2 Foundation. When people choose to take on something as demanding as a marathon – in their own time – to raise funds, it shows a deep level of commitment and generosity. Our team’s efforts will make a real difference, and we are incredibly grateful for their support!”

The K2 Foundation was established in 2023, with the aim of creating brighter futures for children and young people within the communities touched by K2 Corporate Mobility’s global presence. Whether building a school in Brazil, or funding football coaching in the UK, the K2 Foundation prioritises supporting projects that give children new opportunities to learn and challenge themselves.
If you would like to show your support for the team – and the K2 Foundation – you can make a donation via their JustGiving page now. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help the K2 Foundation to continue changing the lives of children around the world.
