Supported by Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity
On Friday 21st November, K2’s Assignment Management Team headed to Chessington Garden Centre for a day of festive fun, hosted by Rainbow Trust for the families they support.
Visitors on the day were treated to an exclusive preview of the garden centre’s Magical Christmas Grotto experience. After hopping aboard a train that transported them from Chessington to a Christmas wonderland, the families made their way past polar bears and penguins to attend a special meeting with the big man himself. Once they had spent some time with Santa, all the children received a gift from his workshop.
The K2 elves were on hand to help with greeting and escorting families to the grotto entrance, manning the events room and taking photos.
Assignment Management Consultant, Bronwen Colegate, reflects:
“It was a truly uplifting experience volunteering with Rainbow Trust at the Chessington Garden Centre Santa’s Grotto, spreading Christmas cheer to families who need it most. Seeing the children’s faces light up was incredibly rewarding and humbling, and a powerful reminder of how much we have to be thankful for. Spending time with the dedicated Rainbow Trust employees who tirelessly support families also deepened my appreciation for the invaluable services they provide.”
Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life-threatening or terminal illness. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of their time together, giving them practical and emotional support, whenever they need it, for as long as is needed.
The support offered to families varies enormously dependent on individual need, but can include helping to explain illnesses, diagnoses and treatments; keeping a seriously ill child company during a hospital stay; driving families to medical appointments; and organising fun activities and days out like the visit to Chessington Garden Centre.
By partnering with incredible charities like Rainbow Trust and encouraging our teams to offer their time to these charities through volunteering, K2 support the K2 Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation is to support children and young people in the regions where K2 operates.
