On Tuesday 30th September, six members of the K2 UK team gave up some time to support one of K2’s charity partners, Naomi House & Jacksplace, by writing thank you cards for their supporters.
The group of volunteers assembled at K2’s Guildford office, to spend a couple of hours writing notes of thanks to be included within parcels being sent out to customers who have made a purchase from the Naomi House and Jacksplace eBay shop.
The eBay store, which was set up in July this year, was created as an online extension of the hospices’ bricks and mortar retail operation and offers a much-needed additional revenue stream for the charity.
Senior Fundraiser (Corporate Partnerships), Lynda Crook, who travelled to Guildford to lead the group, comments:
“At Naomi House & Jacksplace, making sure our supporters feel truly valued is of the utmost importance to us. We know that a little thank you goes a long way, especially a handwritten one – it’s a personal touch that shows our gratitude and helps keep the people who choose to support us connected to our cause.”
Lynda continues:
“Our online shop is run by just one person, so having the support of a corporate partner, like K2, to help write these messages means the world. Their support allows us to go the extra mile in showing appreciation and hopefully help ensure repeat custom. It’s a wonderful example of how partnership can have a genuine impact.”
As well as getting stuck into writing the thank you cards, the volunteers had the opportunity to hear more about the vital work that Naomi House & Jacksplace do, supporting life limited and life threatened children and young adults, and their families.
Global Marketing Manager, Shelley Jarlett Hill, who took part in the activity, reflects:
“The task itself offered an enjoyable break from the day-to-day, and a chance to spend time with colleagues from other teams. It was great to be able to find out more about the amazing services that the hospices offer too and hear the stories of some of the children that attend them – a fantastic reminder of the importance of taking part in initiatives like this.”
All K2 employees around the globe are entitled to two days paid charitable leave per annum, to be used to give back to charities in their local region.
