This April, K2 Client Account Manager, Vicki Sewrey, will be taking part in the TCS London Marathon to raise money for the K2 Foundation.
One of the world’s biggest annual one-day fundraising events, a record-breaking 1,133,813 people entered the ballot for the 2026 TCS London Marathon, with less than 5% successfully getting through. Of the participants on the day, around 56,000 are expected to finish.
The famously flat and fast London Marathon route takes participants from the starting point in the Greenwich/Blackheath area to the finish line on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace, passing many major London landmarks along the way.
Vicki, who ran the London Marathon back in 2024 for the Matt Hampson Foundation, will be joined by her husband Gareth for the race on Sunday 26th April. The pair, who originally planned to run for the K2 Foundation last year, deferred their entry to this year due to a clash with their wedding celebrations.
With three months to go until the big day, Vicki and Gareth’s marathon training regime is now underway.
Commenting on the challenge ahead, Vicki says:
“Running a marathon was a bucket list tick, running it twice is just stupid. Note to self: never sign up to something when adrenaline levels are high…!
I have questioned my life choices a lot over recent weeks but have finally started running again (just!) having not hit the streets since taking part in the Farnborough Half for the Rainbow Trust last February. Running isn’t my favourite sport, which makes finding motivation even harder…give me a cross trainer and some weights any day!”
Vicki continues:
“I know I will have an amazing time on the day, but the training is long and tiring, and of course, colleagues who know me well know how competitive I am, so I HAVE to beat my last marathon time. Gareth is taking it all in his stride, he could run it tomorrow and finish strong, so he is providing motivation – I have told him he needs to keep pushing me and keep me accountable. That will definitely be the hardest part for him!
Anyway, wish us (mostly me!) luck and please support in any way you can.”
The K2 Foundation supports a range of charities and initiatives around the globe, all dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people in some way.
